Can CauceOS confuse similar voices in the transcript?
In sessions where two voices have similar timbre, diarization may assign phrases to the wrong speaker. The system improves within the session and allows manual correction.
Short answer: Yes, it can happen. In sessions where two voices have very similar timbre, diarization may assign some phrases to the wrong speaker. The system improves over time within the session.
What diarization is
Diarization is the process of identifying who is speaking at each moment in the transcript. In an individual session (professional + one client), the system assigns each text fragment to the corresponding speaker: "Speaker 1" (typically the professional) and "Speaker 2" (the client).
When errors are more likely
Diarization errors are more frequent when:
- Two voices have very similar timbre (close fundamental frequency)
- Interruptions or simultaneous speech occur between participants
- Background noise affects the distinction between voices
- In couples or group sessions with three or more speakers
How the system improves
The diarization model improves within the session as it accumulates more speech patterns from each participant. In the first few minutes there may be more errors; by the middle of the session, precision is typically higher.
CauceOS diarization assigns each transcript fragment to the corresponding speaker. In sessions where two voices have similar timbre, there may be incorrect assignments. The system improves within the session and allows manual correction in the panel before generating the report. CauceOS Help Center
